About the Role
TekStream Solutions is seeking a Network Infrastructure Field Engineer / Site Operations Coordinator to support large-scale network deployments and operations across multiple supply chain facilities.
This role works closely with the Senior Lead Network Engineer responsible for national distribution center infrastructure, supporting the execution of network buildouts, facility readiness, infrastructure validation, and ongoing operational health across distribution centers and manufacturing facilities.
The position is highly hands-on and field-oriented. The engineer will travel to sites across the United States to support milestones such as site surveys, construction coordination, network installation validation, and operational readiness checks.
This role blends networking fundamentals, construction coordination, vendor management, and field execution. The successful candidate will initially shadow the senior network lead, learning the environment and processes before gradually taking ownership of site visits and coordination activities.
The work spans greenfield builds, facility retrofits, and operational support, supporting both newly constructed and existing supply chain facilities.
What You’ll Do
Support the delivery and operational readiness of network infrastructure across distribution centers and supply chain facilities, including:
Site Deployment & Infrastructure Validation
- Participate in site visits and facility walkthroughs including:
- Box walks
- ISP site surveys
- Punch walks
- Network readiness and sign-off reviews
- Validate network installations including switches, access points, cabling, patching, and MDF room configuration
- Ensure network rooms and infrastructure meet operational standards and cleanliness requirements
- Assist in final network readiness sign-offs prior to facility go-live
Field Coordination & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with external partners including:
- Network installation vendors
- Low-voltage cabling vendors
- security installation vendors
- AV installation teams
- construction contractors
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of installation activities
- Facilitate vendor access and support technical questions during field work
- Track installation milestones and ensure vendors meet network deployment requirements
Internal Stakeholder Coordination
- Work with internal teams including:
- Network engineering
- Cloud operations
- Systems teams
- Security teams
- Industrial development and construction
- Participate in design review sessions to capture networking and infrastructure requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams supporting connected systems such as warehouse management platforms and operational infrastructure
Operational Support & Facility Health Checks
- Conduct routine site visits to existing distribution centers
- Perform network infrastructure health checks and operational assessments
- Assist with troubleshooting or coordinating resolution of network-related incidents
- Support network refresh projects and infrastructure upgrades
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Maintain site readiness checklists and infrastructure validation scorecards
- Document network infrastructure layouts and operational procedures
- Help refine site readiness checklists and operational standards as the program evolves
Travel Expectations
This role involves frequent travel to facilities across the United States.
Typical travel expectations may include:
- Weekly travel ranging from 1 to 4 days
- Site visits to distribution centers and supply chain facilities nationwide
- Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities and support centers
The role is best suited for someone comfortable operating in field environments and construction sites.
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of experience in network infrastructure, IT operations, or field network support
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals
- Experience working with enterprise network hardware (switches, APs, firewalls, structured cabling)
- Familiarity with Fortinet, Juniper, or similar enterprise networking platforms
- Experience supporting network installations or infrastructure deployment projects
- Ability to read or interpret infrastructure diagrams or construction drawings
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Comfortable working directly with vendors, contractors, and field teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel frequently
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience supporting distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, or large operational sites
- Exposure to construction environments or low-voltage cabling projects
- Familiarity with Procore or construction management platforms
- Experience with Juniper Mist or Fortinet networking platforms
- Industrial engineering or facilities infrastructure exposure
- Experience supporting warehouse management systems or supply chain infrastructure environments
What Success Looks Like
In the first 3–6 months, the engineer will:
- Shadow the senior network lead across multiple site visits
- Learn operational processes, facility standards, and vendor coordination workflows
- Become familiar with network readiness checklists and site validation processes
- Build relationships with internal teams and field partners
