Position Overview

We are seeking a Financial Business Analyst to support the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) reporting and financial management functions within a Federal Government agency. This role will serve as a key liaison between financial management, program offices, and executive leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, budget formulation, and compliance with federal financial management standards.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, knowledge of federal budgeting and financial reporting systems and processes, and experience translating financial data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support agency leadership in the preparation, analysis, and submission of financial data related to OMB reporting requirements, including budget justification materials and financial performance metrics.
  • Analyze budget execution and financial performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improved resource allocation.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of budget formulation and budget execution processes.
  • Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and briefing materials for senior leadership and program managers.
  • Support responses to OMB data calls, Congressional inquiries, and internal agency leadership requests.
  • Evaluate financial management processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Collaborate with program offices to gather financial information, validate data, and ensure compliance with federal financial regulations and guidance.
  • Support development and monitoring of key financial performance indicators and metrics aligned with agency strategic goals.
  • Maintain documentation and audit-ready support for financial reporting activities.
  • Assist in implementing financial management tools, systems, and data analytics solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 4-6 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or financial management
  • Experience supporting federal government budgeting or financial reporting processes
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and financial data analysis
  • Systems experience within SAP, Jira, Confluence, and related platforms
  • Knowledge of federal financial regulations, budgeting cycles, and reporting requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in government environment
