Structural Welder - Commercial Construction

Welder — Chantilly, VA

We’re seeking skilled Structural Welders for a school project. In this role, you’ll help erect structural steel frames by reading blueprints, hoisting and positioning steel, and securing components through bolting or welding. This is a physically demanding position that requires balance, stamina, and a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, erect, and align structural steel (beams, columns, girders) for buildings and other structures
• Bolt or weld steel components according to blueprints and project instructions
• Perform GMAW/MIG welding and operate cutting torches
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and layout instructions
• Signal crane operators to safely guide steel into position
• Operate tools such as shears, hand tools, forklifts, and banding equipment
• Follow all safety and quality standards; participate in safety meetings

Qualifications

• Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
• Physical strength, stamina, and balance for demanding tasks
• Proficiency in welding, blueprint reading, and tool/equipment operation
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and general safety procedures
• Good coordination, depth perception, problem-solving skills, and teamwork mindset
• Must have welder 6G certification
• OSHA 10 preferred
• Must have 3G 4G Certs
• Must have PPE and Harness
