Dispatch Supervisor

Job Summary of Dispatch Supervisor:

This position is responsible for overseeing functions related to transportation operations. Main duties include managing delivery personnel, ensuring adherence to regulations, and maintaining safety and security within the delivery unit.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Dispatch Supervisor:

  • Monitor the day-to-day assignments and safety of delivery team members, ensuring conformity with procedures and designated travel paths.
  • Verify compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other regulations by accurately maintaining electronic logs.
  • Maintain financial targets by effectively supervising the distribution of labor hours and resources to stay within budget constraints.
  • Schedule and monitor work routines, making allowances for any additional shifts required.
  • Coordinate the utilization of assets for deliveries and oversee the maintenance processes.
  • Assess productivity records and offer recommendations for optimizing workflow efficiency.
  • Uphold and implement company policies with regularity.
  • Engage in teamwork with Sales and Marketing to resolve customer complaints and delivery discrepancies.
  • Visit customers to assess delivery issues and offer assistance in resolving any concerns they may have.
  • Strengthen associate relations by promoting open communication channels and conducting frequent meetings.
  • Pay attention to the morale within the team and provide input on how to involve associates more effectively.
  • Advocating for safety tutorials, assessments, and incident inquiries.
  • Guide the staff through the recruitment process, training opportunities, disciplinary procedures, and performance evaluations.
  • - Perform managerial and other operational tasks as requested.

Qualifications and Experience of Dispatch Supervisor:

  • Candidates must have completed high school or obtained a GED; however, those with an associate or bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain are more likely to be favored for this position.
  • Applicants should have between 1 and 3 years of related experience or training.
  • Fulfillment of a defensive driving course endorsed by Sysco is a prerequisite.
  • The ideal candidate would have a preference for HazMat certification and a valid Class A CDL.
  • Possesses excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving proficiencies.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office suite and learn internal systems efficiently.
  • Awareness of FMCSR standards and aptitude in applying regulations and guidelines.
  • Skill in maintaining productivity when under pressure in a high-tempo work setting.
