Fullstack SWE - Toronto/Waterloo

Full Stack Software Engineer – Hybrid | Waterloo or Toronto, ON (must be locally based)

The Role

IC role on a team building modern, high-performance web applications for a large-scale consumer software platform. You'll influence architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and ship production-ready features across the full stack.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable, high-performance frontend and backend architectures
• Drive technical direction and participate in architectural planning and reviews
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and scalable backend services
• Write clean, modular, well-tested code across client and server side
• Champion engineering best practices around observability, performance, and code quality
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams

Requirements

• 5–8 years of full stack development experience
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design
• Deep expertise in React, Vue, or Angular on the frontend
• Backend experience in GoLang and/or Node.js
• State management experience — Redux, MobX, or Pinia
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and browser internals
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (Jest, Cypress)
• Cloud platform experience — AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and i18n
• Experience with design systems or component libraries
• Strong software design principles — SOLID, DDD, modular architecture
• Comfortable in Agile/Scrum environments

Compensation

$90,000 – $115,000 + ~10% bonus + benefits
