Synchena Consulting Inc is a GIS and Municipal Asset Management consulting firm located just outside of Winnipeg in East St Paul, MB. We provide (Geographic Information Systems) and Municipal Asset Management support to municipalities and other local government agencies in Manitoba.

Position

Synchena Consulting Inc is seeking a GIS professional to join our growing GIS and Municipal Asset Management teams. This individual should have a strong focus on using GIS. databases, and information systems.

As a GIS Solutions Engineer you will support the development, configuration, and maintenance of GIS-based applications and data systems, primarily within ESRI’s ArcGIS platform. You will work alongside our GIS and municipal asset management consultants to support client-facing applications, internal tools, municipal asset management solutions, as well as provide technical support to municipal clients.

In this role, you will assist with development and maintenance of ESRI’s ArcGIS Enterprise on-premises software solution, scripting and automation to streamline workflows and support integration between GIS and databases and other business systems where applicable.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of databases principles, information system design and be comfortable working in a client-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and maintenance of GIS-based applications using the ESRI ecosystem.
• Troubleshoot application, data, and user issues across ESRI platforms.
• Using GIS software (ArcGIS Pro) to create maps, maintain datasets and produce visualizations.
• Assist with maintaining and improving municipal asset management datasets.
• Assist with scripting and automation (e.g., Python/ArcPy, Arcade, REST APIs) to streamline workflows.
• Provide technical support to internal staff and municipal clients.
• Assist with user training materials and documentation.

Skills and Abilities

• Experience and proficiency with Esri’s ArcGIS software.
• Experience with ArcGIS Online or other web mapping platforms.
• 2-5 years experience and knowledge with GIS databases and datasets.
• Ability to learn new platforms and technologies quickly.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
• Ability to work independently without supervision as well as in a team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.
• Comfortable with occasional travel outside of Winnipeg, to rural municipal government offices (within 45 minute range of Winnipeg).
• High technical aptitude
• Strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two-year college diploma or equivalent in Geographic Information Systems or graduate of a Computer Science, Business Information Systems (BIS) with GIS continued education.
• An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Valid Manitoba drivers license.
• Must pass criminal record check.
• Must be legally eligible for work in Canada.
• Experience or knowledge of municipal or government GIS environment an asset.

Salary/Benefits

• Starting salary: $75,000 - $90,000
• Full-time permanent position, 40 hours a week.
• 3 month probation period.
