Lead Power BI Developer

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is excited to announce an opportunity for a skilled Lead Power BI Developer to join our team!

This is a full-time, on-site position located in downtown Washington DC. Remote work or telecommuting is not permitted.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage in planning and design sessions for Power BI reporting, ensuring scalability, performance, and security while aligning with stakeholder requirements.
• Architect and create interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI, focusing on user-friendly designs that meet UI/UX standards.
• Develop and implement effective Power BI data strategies and models that enhance complex reporting and analytics capabilities.
• Integrate data from various sources into Composite Data Models within Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and transformation integrity.
• Establish security protocols within Power BI to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and compliance with VA governance policies.
• Monitor and refine the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards for optimal efficiency and user experience.
• Collaborate with business analysts, database administrators, and VA stakeholders to fulfill business requirements with relevant Power BI solutions.
• Create detailed test plans, conduct thorough testing, document defects, and ensure continuous quality assurance for developed reports and dashboards.
• Prepare training materials and documentation, assisting Business Analysts in providing end-user training and support on Power BI software.
• Participate in Agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups to ensure timely project delivery.
• Collect feedback from stakeholders to enhance UI/UX/CX insights for Power BI reports, documenting lessons to optimize future developments.
• Serve as a technical mentor to junior developers, offering guidance on best practices in software development and data integration.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in computer science or a related technical field (10 years of additional experience can substitute for a Master's).
• A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 8 years focused on developing Power BI dashboards and data warehousing solutions.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Desired Experience:

• Previous experience working with a U.S. Federal Government agency.

U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position, and applicants selected must undergo a government security investigation to qualify for a public trust clearance.
