UI/UX Designer

User Interfaces play a critical role in SVH Software products by allowing users to intuitively monitor, maintain, and visualize the operation and impact of our solutions. We are seeking a UI Designer to help us develop and maintain a cohesive and visually pleasing experience for users across all of our user interfaces and target personals. The candidate will work closely with users, engineers and product managers to develop an understanding of our systems and user needs. The candidate will be a foundational member of our graphic design team, so excellent collaboration and communication skills will be necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Synthesize requirements from existing functionality, customer input, brainstormed ideas, and direction from senior management
• Develop user flows, wireframes, specifications/documentation, and prototypes
• Conduct user testing and accessibility testing
• Work closely with our engineering team through implementation, testing, documentation, and release
• Help promote best practices in design, usability, and accessibility within the design and engineering teams and across the company
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
• Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
• Actively engage with internal stakeholders to build consensus on system behaviors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Design or related discipline
• 3+ years experience creating UI/UX designs in a professional setting
• Portfolio containing examples of past UI projects
• Proficient in Adobe CC Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS and Vector Graphics
• Experience with design collaboration tools, such as Invision
• Experience working autonomously to develop UX specifications and style guides
• Strong portfolio and live examples of past UI projects
• Introductory knowledge of React and SASS (Syntactically Awesome Stylesheets)
• 2D/3D drawing by hand or computer and have ability to visualize concepts
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimal day to day technical direction.
• Operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented culture.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Experience working on cross-functional teams and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
