Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Pune Division for an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager – Rooftop Solar. The O&M Manager will oversee the daily operations and maintenance of rooftop solar installations, ensure systems are operating at peak performance, and handle troubleshooting and efficiency optimization.
Responsibilities include project scheduling, coordination with internal teams, managing spare parts logistics, monitoring warranties, and ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. The O&M Manager will also provide technical support, lead performance evaluations, and assist in customer relationship management.
Qualifications
Strong Analytical Skills for performance evaluations and troubleshooting
Effective Communication skills for coordinating with teams, stakeholders, and customers
Experience in Operations Management and Project Management to oversee O&M activities and schedules
Understanding of Sales processes to support customer relationship management efforts
Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, particularly in the solar industry, is highly desirable
Ability to handle on-site work and ensure compliance with safety protocols
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field
Proven experience in O&M management for solar or renewable energy projects is a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Technical Operations (AC/DC Systems)
Oversee all O&M activities for distributed rooftop solar projects, ensuring maximum plant performance (PR) and generation.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues on the DC side (modules, string inverters, DC combiners, cabling) and the AC side (transformers, LT/HT panels, net-metering interfaces, and evacuation lines).
Minimize plant downtime by responding swiftly to breakdown alerts and executing rapid corrective maintenance.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Plan, schedule, and execute regular preventive maintenance calendars (IV curve testing, thermal imaging/thermography, inverter health checks, and structure torque checking).
Analyze data from Remote Monitoring Systems (SCADA/RMS) to identify underperformance trends and implement predictive fixes before faults occur.
- Team & Cleaning Manpower Management
Manage, train, and mentor a field team of site engineers and O&M technicians.
Directly manage outsourced or in-house module cleaning manpower, ensuring strict module cleaning schedules are met to prevent soiling losses.
Conduct regular performance reviews and resource planning to ensure optimal manpower utilization across multiple rooftop sites.
- Safety, Compliance & Client Relations
Enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols on-site, ensuring zero compromises on safety during rooftop execution.
Liaise with clients/rooftop owners to coordinate site access, shutdown windows, and address any operational concerns.
Maintain comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly generation and maintenance logs for management and client reporting.
Required Profile & Qualifications
Education: B.Tech / B.E. / Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Experience: 5 years or greater in solar plant operations and maintenance.
Core Competencies:
Deep technical understanding of string inverters, solar module degradation types, and AC evacuation.
Natural problem solver who stays calm under pressure and thinks critically on-site.
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing both technical staff and labor forces.
