Superior Bakery Systems is a supplier of industrial bakery equipment and automated production systems serving customers across Canada and the United States. We specialize in the design, installation, and support of complete bakery production lines including dough preparation systems, depositing equipment, tunnel ovens, conveyors, proofing systems, cooling equipment, and packaging solutions.
As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a Field Service Technician to support equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service work at customer facilities.
Job Overview
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing industrial bakery and food processing equipment at customer facilities.
This role requires strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, the ability to read schematics, and a willingness to travel frequently. The successful candidate will work directly with customers during installations, equipment startup, and service calls.
This position involves approximately 75% travel across Canada and the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Installation
- Install industrial bakery equipment and production line systems at customer facilities
- Perform mechanical assembly of conveyors, frames, and processing equipment
- Assist with electrical wiring, motors, sensors, and control components
Commissioning & Startup
- Commission new bakery equipment and production lines
- Perform equipment testing and adjustments during startup
- Assist with system integration and equipment optimization
Troubleshooting & Service
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues on industrial equipment
- Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, sensors, pneumatic systems, and control components
- Perform preventative maintenance and service work at customer sites
Technical Work
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
- Work with low and high voltage electrical systems
- Assist with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems
Customer Support
- Provide on-site customer support during installations and service visits
- Train operators and maintenance personnel on proper equipment operation
- Maintain a professional company presence when representing Superior Bakery Systems
Hands-On Experience With Industrial Equipment (Preferred)
Experience working with one or more of the following:
- Industrial conveyors and material handling systems
- Electric motors and gearboxes
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Industrial sensors and safety circuits
- Pneumatic systems and valves
- PLC-controlled production equipment
- Food processing or bakery equipment
Technicians with experience installing or commissioning industrial machinery are strongly preferred.
Qualifications
- Experience as an Industrial Technician, Millwright, Industrial Electrician, or Field Service Technician
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while traveling
- Experience in food processing or bakery equipment is considered an asset
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 75% travel required
- Travel throughout Canada and the United States
- Overnight stays and extended travel during installations may be required
- Valid passport required for cross-border travel
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in industrial production environments
- Ability to lift equipment components and work with tools
- Strong communication skills when working with customers and team members
- Technical training or certification in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance is considered an asset
Work Authorization
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to travel for work assignments.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
