Overview

The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and safe processes for receiving, storage, and distribution. This position is responsible for managing a team of warehouse specialists, optimizing workflow, enforcing company policies and procedures, and achieving key performance indicators such as inventory accuracy, process targets, and overtime compliance. Success in the role is demonstrated through strong leadership, teamwork, continuous improvement, and consistent operational results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with functional and branch leadership to create strategic plans in support of future growth and improved efficiencies.
  • Interview, hire, train, and certify all new hires on warehouse operations policies and procedures.
  • Attend and lead branch, organizational and cross‑functional daily, weekly, and monthly meetings and calls.
  • Provide leadership, support, mentoring, and performance management that ensures development of a highly skilled and motivated warehouse operations team.
  • Complete quarterly and yearly employee team performance reviews.
  • Drive advancement in standard operating procedures and lead training events to standardize across all warehouse locations.
  • Perform special projects and tasks as assigned while meeting and exceeding warehouse operations standards.
  • Implement best practice warehouse management design to optimize space and maximize labor productivity.
  • Influence organizational change, manage warehouse efficiency and inventory accuracy improvement programs to support business growth, and perform staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Promote a respectful work environment and continuously recruit, develop, and retain a qualified, motivated, and productive employee base.
  • Coordinate efforts with the safety department to aid in training, conduct associate observations, update preferred work methods, investigate accidents to determine root causes, and perform routine safety inspections.
  • Make recommendations and execute disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies (OSHA, AIB, FDA, USDA, etc.).
  • Achieve consensus on operating plans, and provide reports and requested information to management as needed.
  • Act as an active and strong contributor to the management team, taking the lead in highlighting, developing, and executing best‑in‑class solutions for customers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SKILLS)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
  • In‑depth understanding of receiving, inventory management, fulfillment, and warehousing work‑group dynamics, best practices, and measurement systems.
  • Experience in improving business processes through continuous process improvement techniques and the incorporation of available system technologies.
  • Track record of building and managing strong teams.
  • Hands‑on, fact‑based manager who leads by example.
  • Practical thinking and long‑range planning with the ability to act quickly and solve problems in high‑intensity environments.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to gain consensus.
  • Ability to develop individuals and establish positive team dynamics.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft and Google platforms.
  • Hardworking, action‑oriented, and results‑driven, with the ability to manage and drive multiple priorities at once.
  • Willingness to cooperate and accept added responsibilities.
  • Experience in process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, teamwork, and experience working in a highly cross‑functional organization.
  • Experience in the solar/renewables industry is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle WM and Oracle ERP is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Requires extended periods of continuous physical exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting material or equipment (some may be heavy or awkward).
  • Ability to stand for entire shift on concrete floors.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs without assistance, and 50+ lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to work in a non‑climatically controlled environment throughout the year.
  • Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work alone and self‑supervise.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, and determine accuracy of work.
  • Ability to interact with co‑workers and participate in meetings.
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks (up to 50 lbs frequently unassisted).
  • Able to hear alarms and commands from a distance.
  • Able to use ladders and step stools to access materials.
  • Able to operate a forklift, and push and pull hand carts and hand trucks.
  • Able to read labels and identify symbols.
