Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Report Writer in our Edmonton office as part of the Technical Field Services team. This is a part-time position that will require between 20 and 40 hours per week, depending on workload and personal availability of the successful candidate.
The Technical Report Writer will be accountable for developing technical reports for clients; ultimately providing exceptional client service through the completion of Field Services projects. The client reports contain technical information from field services work.
Responsibilities
- Refine and Manage process to track report completion timelines
- Suggest improvements to the report writing process and work with the Canadian teams to implement and enforce agreed-to improvements
- Develop a process to foster a feedback loop to the technical report authors and their managers for performance management and improvement purposes
- Create the framework for the final report by pre-populating all relevant information including but not limited to client data, work dates, crew, scope of work
- Revise technical reports completed by Technicians to ensure clarity, accuracy, grammar, and formatting
- Review test results for errors and omissions and report back to the author with required corrections
- Develop technical reports through collaboration of technical information to produce concise reports for clients
- Collaborate with Technicians to ensure understanding of the information to help in creating an effective report
- Finalize reports and provide the end product to the clients
- Ensure reports are sent to the customer within 2 weeks of project completion
- Follow up with the customers 4 weeks after report submission to ensure they have no questions
- Pass along all opportunities resulting from deficiencies to the sales team for quoting
- 5+ years of Technical Report writing experience
- Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma/ Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent would be an asset
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with outstanding grammar skills
- Possesses a positive attitude, is highly self-motivated, energetic, passionate and reliable
- Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment and prioritize workload through outstanding organizational skills
