Role Overview:

As a Senior Manager - Legal at Sun Life India Service Centre Private Limited, you will be a part of the Legal Centre of Excellence, particularly within the Information Technology Contracting Centre (ITCC). Your role will involve the end-to-end contract review process for business partners in the insurance industry across various geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret various types of contracts related to the insurance industry, including distribution, marketing, outsourcing, consulting, and strategy-driven engagements.
  • Assist in managing complex transaction work within a fast-moving corporate environment and provide expertise on legal issues related to contracts.
  • Collaborate with teams and legal heads in different countries to maintain relationships with business partners and act as the main contact for contract matters.
  • Monitor contracts, facilitate close-out, extension, or renewal, and address any contract-related issues that may arise.
  • Structure client transactions for optimal contracting and business outcomes.
  • Develop internal guidelines, toolkits, and knowledge capital on legal and business issues, including reporting tools for trend identification.
  • Educate company professionals on contracting and risk management matters.
  • Represent the company's interests and engage directly with client negotiating teams.
  • Track non-standard provisions and deliverables, and establish a process for addressing major incidents related to contractual commitments.
  • Stay updated on contract management best practices and actively participate in project-based assignments.

Qualifications Required:

  • Must hold an LLB advanced degree in law, with a preference for a background in contract management.
  • Possess 8-12 years of experience in the legal domain, ideally within the insurance industry and across multiple geographies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to think analytically and creatively.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of making sound judgments in complex situations.
  • Experience in managing change, operating under pressure, and resolving issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry trends, regulatory frameworks, and the ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
