About StudioX News Canada
StudioX News Canada is Canada's multilingual digital news network, delivering daily journalism across 34 languages. We are growing our Punjabi edition — one of the most-read language editions on our platform, serving Canada's large Punjabi-speaking community in Brampton, Surrey, Calgary, and beyond.
The Role
We are looking for a fluent Punjabi journalist and translator to write original stories and translate key English articles into Punjabi for our daily edition. You will be one of the first reporters on the team and will have a direct impact on how hundreds of thousands of Punjabi Canadians receive their daily news.
What You Will Do
- Write 2–3 original Punjabi-language news articles per day across our 7 categories
- Translate 3–5 key English articles into Punjabi daily
- Write Punjabi captions for social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp
- Manage the StudioX Punjabi WhatsApp community channel
- Source stories from Punjabi community events, organizations, and contacts
- Review Punjabi content for cultural accuracy and community sensitivity
- Attend community events to identify story opportunities
What We Are Looking For
Required:
- Native or near-native fluency in written and spoken Punjabi (Gurmukhi script)
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Strong news writing and storytelling skills in both languages
- Passion for community journalism and serving the Punjabi-Canadian community
- Reliable, deadline-focused work ethic
Preferred
- Journalism training or 1+ year experience in a newsroom or digital media role
- Familiarity with Canadian news and immigration issues
- Social media content creation experience
- WordPress CMS experience
