Position Overview
StratHR is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to oversee financial records and reporting across multiple corporate and non-profit entities.
This role is critical to ensuring financial integrity, accuracy, and compliance. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening internal financial systems, supporting leadership decision-making, and ensuring readiness for external reporting and audits.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform full cycle bookkeeping
- Monitor all financial activities and ensuring that the organization stays on budget.
- Monitor and complete bank reconciliations and month-end adjustments.
- Compile and submit bi-weekly payroll after approval of the Employment Director.
- Ensuring that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Charitable Status, Withholding Payments (CPP, EI), Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax
- Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Employment Director and the Board's Audit Committee as necessary.
- Prepare deposits for review by Management and Executive Director.
- Prepare financial monthly reports (Profit & Loss, Financial statement), summary and notes and attend Finance Committee meeting
- Prepare financial statements and reports that are appropriate for StratHR funding and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assist external accountants to complete corporate year end statement.
- GST/PST/EHC Various CRA payments and installments.
- Be familiar with organizational budget, coding, expense eligibility and flag discrepancies
- Assist in drafting budget and forecast, and prepare the operational budget in consultation with the Executive Director and Finance Committee.
- Prepare financial statements and reports that are appropriate for StratHR funding and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Represent the StratHR at local or regional meetings, community functions, or task groups and provide presentations when required.
- Other duties as assigned and approved by Employment Director and Board of Directors.
Position Requirements:
- University degree or Diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration.
- Certified General Accountant, or Certified Management Accountant designation is an asset.
- Min. 3-5 years of experience as a book keeper.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience with Payworks, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy without supervision.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise diplomacy and discretion.
