Junior Power BI Migration Engineer

Location: Baltimore (Preferred)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Junior Power BI Migration Engineer to support a large-scale business intelligence modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will assist in migrating and rebuilding Power BI dashboards into modern, web-based reporting applications while ensuring data accuracy and performance.

Key Responsibilities

BI Migration & Reporting

• Assist in analyzing existing Power BI dashboards, DAX logic, and data models
• Support the rebuild of reports using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web technologies
• Translate Power BI measures into SQL queries or backend logic
• Ensure visual parity and accuracy with legacy reports

Data & Backend Integration

• Write and optimize PostgreSQL queries for reporting workloads
• Integrate with transactional databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)
• Work with APIs to access and manage data

Frontend Development

• Build responsive dashboards using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+)
• Develop basic visualizations using libraries such as Chart.js or D3.js
• Assist in implementing interactive dashboard features

Security & Quality

• Follow secure coding practices
• Participate in peer code reviews and testing cycles
• Write maintainable, well-documented code

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of BI/reporting and web development experience
• Strong SQL fundamentals (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Ability to interpret business reporting requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
• Understanding of BI data modeling concepts
• Exposure to backend development (Python, Node.js)
• Knowledge of data visualization best practices
