Job Description

Job Summary The Junior Merchandiser is responsible for managing the entire merchandising process for leather goods such as bags, wallets, belts, and accessories from order confirmation to final shipment. The role involves coordination with buyers, production, sampling, sourcing, quality control, and logistics to ensure timely delivery and compliance with buyer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Buyer Communication & Order Management

· Act as the primary point of contact between international buyers and the company.

· Handle buyer enquiries, product development discussions, pricing, and negotiations.

· Confirm purchase orders and ensure all order details are clearly understood.

· Maintain regular communication with buyers regarding order status, approvals, and shipment schedules.

  • Product Development & Sampling

· Coordinate with design and sampling teams for development of new leather products.

· Arrange proto samples, counter samples, and pre-production samples as per buyer requirements.

· Ensure timely sample submission and follow up for approvals.

  • Costing & Pricing

· Prepare product costing considering leather, fittings, labour, overhead, and logistics.

· Negotiate prices with buyers while ensuring profitability.

· Maintain costing sheets and price records for all products.

  • Production Coordination

· Coordinate with production, cutting, stitching, finishing, and packing departments.

· Ensure production schedules are maintained according to shipment timelines.

· Monitor production progress and resolve issues affecting delivery schedules.

  • Raw Material & Accessories Coordination

· Coordinate with procurement department for leather, lining, fittings, zippers, and packaging materials.

· Ensure timely availability of materials as per production plan.

· Verify material quality and specifications as per buyer requirements.

  • Quality Assurance

· Work closely with QC team to ensure products meet buyer specifications and quality standards.

· Coordinate inline inspections and final inspections.

· Handle quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Documentation & Shipment

· Coordinate with logistics and documentation departments for export documentation.

· Ensure timely preparation of packing list, invoice, and shipping instructions.

· Follow up with freight forwarders to ensure on-time shipment.

  • Team Supervision

· Guide junior merchandisers and merchandising assistants.

· Monitor their work and ensure accurate order handling.

· Provide training and support to the merchandising team.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion, Leather Technology, or related field.

· 3–5 years of experience in merchandising in leather goods manufacturing/export industry.

Required Skills

· Strong knowledge of leather goods production processes.

· Experience in handling international buyers and export orders.

· Knowledge of costing, materials, and accessories used in leather products.

· Strong communication and negotiation skills.

· Ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously.

· Good computer skills (MS Excel, ERP systems, email communication).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· On-time sample submission and approvals.

· On-time production and shipment completion.

· Buyer satisfaction and repeat orders.

· Cost control and profitability of orders.

· Quality compliance and minimal rejection rates.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
