MDH St. Mary's County Health Department\r\n21580 Peabody St.\r\nLeonardtown, MD 20650\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this part-time position will be to assist the St. Mary's County Health Department with the planning, oversight, and evaluation of a comprehensive Mental Health System in St. Mary's County, including mental health clinical services. Mental Health involves both substance misuse prevention and control as well as mental health. This position will manage subordinate staff who work towards improving quality and accessibility of mental health clinical services for the county's population. This position along with subordinate staff will also work closely with many public and private partners throughout the county to address adequacy of local mental health treatment services, ensure the mental health clinical needs of vulnerable populations are being considered, and ensure that residents and their families are linked appropriately to needed mental health clinical services and supports.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling, or a related field.\r\nExperience: Six years professional experience in health services, three years must have been in Mental Health professional work related to treatment and development of mentally ill patients and two years must have been at the managerial or supervisory level.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree or a Doctorate degree in a health or human services field from an accredited college or university for up to two years of the required general experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus an additional year of professional experience in health services for the required education. \r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess:\r\n\r\n\r\n A valid Class C non-commercial driver's license;\r\n Experience with State and Federal grants;\r\n Experience with the planning, oversight, and evaluation of a comprehensive Mental Health system. \r\n\r\n\r\n
