Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide dental hygiene treatments and services to patients in clinical and community-based settings. This position includes both clinic-based care and off-site public health activities such as school-based programs, community outreach, and preventive services. This position must be able to perform duties independently in both clinic and community settings.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners under the licensing requirements for Dental Hygienist.\r\nExperience: Two years of experience providing dental hygiene treatments and services as a Dental Hygienist. \r\nNote: \r\nCandidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Dental Hygienist or Specialist classifications or Dental Hygienist or Specialist specialty codes in the dental field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current certification as a Dental Hygienist from the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners. \r\n2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training in and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification. \r\n3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r\n
