Temporary Part Time
Salary Range: $34.40 - $43.00 /hour
Temporary Part-Time position until approximately October 20, 2026, (with potential for renewal), subject to the availability of work.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Barra in the role of the 'Research Coordinator 1'. This position will assist the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology to secure and administer both industry-sponsored and local investigator-sponsored clinical research studies.
There is a broad range of responsibilities, with a focus on all dimensions of Observational Clinical Studies and Clinical Trials Administration and Initiation. This includes day-to-day operations of clinical studies including: preparation and set up of ethics submissions; preparation, maintenance and reporting of financials for individual studies; study participant recruitment, liaison with industry, patients, physicians, other research staff and healthcare workers; management of clinical study documentation assuring investigational product accountability and reconciliation, database management and data stewardship. The incumbent handles any adverse events and assures adherence to reporting requirements for serious events. This position is a 3 day per week (24 hours per week) six-month contract with possibility of renewal.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's level degree in health research methodology, health science, or related field
- Experience with Health Canada CTA, GCPs, SOP, TCP, and research ethics
- Minimum three years of experience in clinical research
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and REDCap
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Requires excellent interpersonal, supervisory, organizational and planning skills to work effectively in a high pressure environment and have the ability to deal with confidential matters;
- Ability to work independently and make decisions. Good judgement, initiative, tact and professional attitude in the workplace;
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
- Adaptable, flexible and resourceful. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
- Experience working in an academic/research environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in clinical research (clinical trials certificate/diploma, Society of Clinical Research Associates, Association of Clinical Research Professionals)
- Training in ICH/GCP guidelines.
- Familiarity with LRI policies and procedures an asset
- Familiarity with national, international and provincial research funding agencies/ organizations that fund research would be a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work in teams, e.g. including faculty, staff, students and residents;
- Experience with soliciting funds and contributions from corporations, foundations and individuals
- Certification in venipuncture
- The incumbent will maintain certification in
- CPR training
- WHMS training
- Shipping of Dangerous Goods training
Immunization Requirements
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
