Job Description

Sryde Digital Marketing is a growing website creation + digital marketing agency rooted in the Niagara region of Ontario, Canada. With a small, dedicated team of less than 10 full time staff members, we host and maintain over 350 WordPress websites and provide digital marketing/lead generation services for clients needing a professional web presence.

Who we're looking for in a nutshell : We are seeking a passionate and experienced graphic designer who also has significant experience as a WordPress developer. Although you will be our sole senior designer and at times there can be significant amounts of design work, the majority of your time may often be spent on website builds and fulfilling helpdesk support requests for website changes. Also, you'll need to be able to work fast and be versatile: even in the midst of working on larger projects, you'll need to be able to shift from one discipline/task/client to another fairly seamlessly and willingly day to day based on client needs and management priorities. You'll also need to be comfortable and well-versed in communicating directly with clients via phone and email on a regular basis.

This is a full-time, permanent, work-from-home, salaried position requiring 5 work days per week. We offer a full benefits package and the opportunity for growth in the future.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Website, Graphic and UI/UX Design — Lead the creative/user interface/user experience design processes for client websites, graphics, and other digital assets. Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and objectives. Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design and UI/UX ideas. Design visually appealing and user-friendly websites and graphics. Evaluate and monitor websites and assets built by other developers to ensure aesthetic and UI/UX appeal, and instruct/supervise changes accordingly. Perform photo editing when required. Design print assets such as banners, logos, brochures, business cards and other materials. Front-End WordPress Development — Build, structure and manage WordPress website user interfaces using HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create and maintain visually appealing and user-friendly websites. Translate design mockups into responsive WordPress themes. Use CSS and JavaScript to add motion, effects and "life" to website implementations. Ensure responsivity and optimal performance of websites across various devices and browsers. Add content to websites as necessary including text, images and videos. Implement page sections and elements while adhering to SEO best practices and accessibility standards. Work with our server provider's support team to troubleshoot and correct server issues. Perform routine maintenance using provided tools including running backups, upgrading plug-ins, scanning for malware, and other tasks. Back-End WordPress Development — Utilize PHP and MySQL to develop scalable and secure back-end functionalities and database-driven solutions for WordPress websites. Integrate third-party APIs and programmatic web services as needed. Build custom WordPress modules, plug-ins and themes, and customize commercial WordPress plug-ins and themes as needed. Project Management & Customer Support — For assigned larger projects: Manage the process of website creation from initial concept and communication to completion and website launch; assign work to and follow up with other team members involved in the project; write content for client websites as needed with help of online tools; use our project management tool to record tasks, track time spent on projects and ensure budgets are not exceeded and due dates are adhered to. For our customer helpdesk requests: Communicate directly with clients for support requests through email, phone, and video communication; troubleshoot requested issues for clients accordingly; provide time estimates for requested client work. Other Duties — Stay abreast of new developments in web design/graphic design/UI/UX trends and practices. Engage in our team meetings to provide updates on work and communicate issues and ideas. Use our company systems to keep track of time spent on projects, record tasks, communicate with other team members, and more. Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge and best practices. Assist the President in select client sales meetings and with proposals as requested. Perform other duties as assigned by the President or Manager of Projects & Operations.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Minimum 6 years experience as an intermediate-level (or higher) web/graphic designer, preferably in an agency setting Thorough understanding and experience with UI/UX theory, strategies, research, trends, and implementations relating to website design and creation Experience with overseeing and implementing the entire design process for website, graphic, and other asset creation from start to finish with little to no supervision Proficiency in Adobe Creative Su
