Job Summary

The Transport Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily transportation operations, ensuring efficient vehicle utilization, timely deliveries, compliance with regulations, and cost-effective logistics management. The role involves managing drivers, fleet maintenance, route planning, and overall transport performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fleet Management

• Manage and monitor company vehicles (trucks, delivery vehicles, etc.)
• Ensure regular maintenance, servicing, and fitness of all vehicles
• Maintain vehicle records (RC, insurance, permits, pollution certificates)

2. Operations & Logistics

• Plan and optimize routes for timely delivery and fuel efficiency
• Ensure on-time dispatch and delivery of goods/vehicles
• Coordinate with warehouse, service, and field teams

3. Driver Management

• Recruit, train, and supervise drivers
• Monitor driver performance, attendance, and discipline
• Ensure drivers follow safety and company policies

4. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with transport laws and government regulations
• Maintain safety standards for drivers and vehicles
• Handle documentation related to RTO, insurance, and legal matters

5. Cost Control

• Monitor fuel consumption and reduce operational costs
• Track expenses related to repairs, maintenance, and logistics
• Implement cost-saving initiatives

6. Reporting & MIS

• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly transport reports
• Track KPIs like vehicle utilization, delivery timelines, and downtime
• Maintain proper documentation and audit records

7. Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors
• Handle emergency situations like breakdowns or delays
• Ensure smooth communication between drivers and management

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma (Logistics, Transport, or related field preferred)
• 3–10 years of experience in transport or fleet management
• Experience in commercial vehicle operations is an added advantage

Key Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management
• Route planning and logistics knowledge
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance
• Good communication and coordination skills

Preferred Industry Experience:

• Automobile dealerships (e.g., commercial vehicles)
• Transport company

• Gas agencies / delivery operations
