The Senior Manager of Community Partnerships at Spur Local is a dynamic role responsible for building and stewarding relationships across the region’s nonprofit, philanthropic, civic, and business communities. This role is ideal for someone who believes that relationships build resilience, understands the power of partnerships, and wants to mobilize the community for the community.

The Senior Manager of Community Partnerships will help strengthen connections across the region, support local nonprofits, and expand opportunities for residents and businesses to engage in meaningful local impact.

This role will help advance Spur Local’s CASE for Community framework—Connections, Advocacy, Strengthening capacity, and Elevating awareness— by cultivating partnerships that generate tangible outcomes for the local nonprofit ecosystem.

About Spur Local

Spur Local, formerly the Catalogue for Philanthropy, is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC that was founded in 2003. Our mission is to create a stronger, more resilient DC region by expanding access for small nonprofits to knowledge, connections, and resources, and by engaging the community. Spur Local’s awareness raising efforts are focused on a network of 500+ grassroots nonprofits in the DC region and have led to over $70 million in fundraising on their behalf. For capacity building, Spur Local offers opportunities to engage nonprofits across the country through virtual webinars, workshops, an online resource library, and 1-on-1 consulting projects.

Core Responsibilities — 60%

  • Campaign Management:Oversee and implement two regional giving campaigns (GivingTuesday and a spring giving day) with 100+ nonprofit participants in each campaign.
  • Next Gen Giving Circle:Support the management of a group of 70+ emerging professionals who give collectively, including organizing engagement and learning events.
  • Consulting:Support select consulting engagements with nonprofits to help advance their strategy, operations, and capacity.
  • Facilitation:Support facilitation of select spaces for nonprofit collaboration, shared learning, and connection across the region.
  • Advocacy and Community Education: Support advocacy efforts on behalf of local nonprofits through research and partnership creation, including new ways to educate and engage the local community, businesses and donors

Additional Responsibilities — 40%

  • Community Presence: Represent Spur Local at in-person events that strengthen our relationships across the community.
  • Philanthropic Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with philanthropic leaders and community influencers who can help grow local giving.
  • Awareness Raising:Cultivate relationships with companies and community groups to elevate awareness of Spur Local and ways to support local nonprofits, including the expanded distribution of Spur Local’s annual catalog and other resources across the region.
  • Nonprofit Resources: Build mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses and nonprofits to keep more resources local, reduce costs, and drive community impact.

This role will help shape how Spur Local engages with the broader community and identify opportunities to strengthen the local nonprofit ecosystem.

Relationship Management

Beyond forming meaningful relationships, this role will steward and manage them. This includes scheduling, communication, coordination, execution, and follow-up to ensure that partnerships are successful. Many of these relationships will move several priorities forward.

Attention to Detail

Spur Local builds trust by being reliable and following through. This role will help ensure that conversations turn into action and that partnerships deliver on their commitments.

The Senior Manager of Community Partnerships will drive tangible outcomes through programs, partnerships, and events that create meaningful and measurable change.

Outsized Impact

Spur Local aims to provide exceptional value through its partnerships. This role will help ensure nonprofits and community partners receive significant benefit from collaborating with Spur Local.

Clear Communication

The Senior Manager of Community Partnerships must be a strong communicator who can represent Spur Local externally while coordinating effectively with internal teams.

Qualifications or Experience

None of the following are strict requirements. They represent experiences that may help someone succeed in the role and may come from professional, civic, or personal contexts.

  • Partnership or relationship management: Experience developing, managing, and growing partnerships with clear goals and outcomes.
  • Event and/or project management: Experience planning or leading initiatives, campaigns, or events that engage community audiences.
  • Nonprofit management: Familiarity with nonprofit strategy, fundraising, governance, communications, or program management.
  • Facilitation: Experience creating or leading spaces that encourage collaboration, learning, or connection.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to identify opportunities, connect ideas across sectors, and turn relationships into meaningful outcomes.
  • Communication: Strong writing and speaking skills with experience representing organizations publicly.
  • Consulting: Experience supporting organizations through strategy, problem solving, or advisory work.

Benefits

Spur Local offers a competitive salary and a benefits package designed to support staff well-being, flexibility, and long-term sustainability.

Salary Range:$65,000 — $75,000

Final salary is determined based on experience and qualifications.
