Role: Application Support Analyst (Intermediate)

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid – 2 days onsite, flexible days)

Duration: 6 months (April 20, 2026 – October 20, 2026)

Possibility of Extension: Yes

Possibility of Conversion to Full-Time: Yes

Work Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Role Overview

The Technical Specialist – Application Support Analyst (Intermediate) will provide structured desk support to Global Structured Products trading desks. This role plays a critical part in supporting both pre- and post-execution trade lifecycle events, ensuring accurate trade booking, seamless downstream processing, and strong coordination between trading, technology, and operations stakeholders.

The position supports a broad range of financial products including Structured Notes, Equities, OTC Equity and Interest Rate Derivatives, Bonds, and Loans. The successful candidate will apply strong product knowledge, operational discipline, and analytical skills to reduce operational risk, support new product introductions, and contribute to system enhancements and process automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

A. Product & Process Management

  • Ensure all trade bookings, amendments, and lifecycle events (expiry, resets, dividends, corporate actions) are accurately reflected across trading and downstream platforms.
  • Act as a primary liaison between Trading desks and internal stakeholders such as Accounting, P&L, Market Risk, Audit, and Operations to support accurate product setup and processing.
  • Serve as a first line of defense by ensuring controls are in place to mitigate operational risk and ensure compliance with approved product frameworks.
  • Work closely with IT and Product Development teams to automate trade workflows and enhance trade monitoring tools.
  • Participate in system migrations and enhancement initiatives, including UAT testing and impact analysis related to Market Risk and P&L.
  • Proactively investigate and resolve trade, position, and payment discrepancies.
  • Execute End-of-Day (EOD) processes including reconciliation and completeness checks.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date procedure documentation.

B. Risk & Control

  • Identify potential risks within Global Trade Support activities and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal directives, policies, procedures, and approval processes.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to the business.
  • Uphold ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and information security protocols.
  • Support business continuity planning through contingency testing and documentation.
  • Contribute to maintaining and regularly updating operational procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory expectations.

C. Business Performance & Service Excellence

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Deliver high-quality service through timely, accurate, and knowledgeable support.
  • Build strong working relationships across Trading, Product Operations, and support functions.
  • Align individual objectives with broader team and business goals.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and collaborative behaviours.

D. Leadership Support (as applicable)

  • Assist with day-to-day team operations by supporting task allocation, accountability, and workflow coordination.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 1–3 years of experience within the financial services industry.
  • University degree or college diploma in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of vanilla and exotic derivative products including:
  • Structured Notes
  • Equities
  • OTC Equity and Interest Rate Derivatives (Swaps, Forwards)
  • Bonds and Loans
  • Hands-on experience with project initiatives, UAT testing, or onboarding trading platforms.
  • Familiarity with trading and risk systems such as:
  • TraderEH
  • SwapOne
  • Imagine
  • Calypso
  • Bloomberg
  • Solid knowledge of financial markets and regulatory oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, investigation, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
  • Well-developed organizational skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
