Senior Data Scientist / AI Lead (Key Personnel - Optional Strategic)
Location: Bethesda, MD - Hybrid
Level: Senior
Proposed Pay Rate: $ 135.00 - $141.00 hour
Position Overview
The Senior Data Scientist leads AI/ML initiatives supporting NCATS translational science mission objectives. This role designs and deploys advanced analytics models for biomedical datasets, bioinformatics pipelines, and AI-enabled scientific workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI/ML models
- Lead responsible AI implementation
- Support bioinformatics and cheminformatics analysis
- Build predictive models for translational research
- Collaborate with NIH researchers and stakeholders
- Ensure secure model deployment within federal environments
- Support optional imaging/AI segmentation efforts
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years applied data science experience
- Experience with biomedical datasets preferred
- Strong Python/R/ML frameworks expertise
- Experience deploying AI in secure environments
Preferred Certifications
- AWS ML Specialty
- Data Science certification (optional)
Education
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
- Advanced degree preferred
