Video Editing Specialist (Vlog and Social Video)

About the role

This is a paid, part-time freelance consulting role (independent contractor).

We’re looking for an experienced video editor to collaborate with Show Builder, a tool that turns raw footage into fully edited vlog-style videos. This is a creative consulting role where you’ll help guide how our technology understands and applies human editing decisions.

You won’t be editing videos for us—but you must have hands-on editing experience. We’ll work through footage together to help the product learn how a strong editor thinks about timing, pacing, story, and audience engagement.

What you’ll do

• Review raw vlog footage and talk through how it should be edited
• Help shape story, pacing, and flow
• Give detailed input on editing decisions such as music timing, cuts, transitions, rhythm, b-roll placement, and emphasis
• Share insight into current editing styles, trends, and what performs well with today’s audiences
• Explain why certain edits work so the product can learn from them

What we’re looking for

• Hands-on experience editing vlog, YouTube, or social content from raw footage to final cut
• Strong sense of timing, pacing, storytelling, and viewer engagement
• In tune with current internet culture and modern editing styles
• Good instincts for what feels fresh, relevant, and effective today
• Experience with tools like Premiere, Final Cut, Resolve, or similar
