Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly experienced MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) Manager to lead fleet maintenance operations and ensure high vehicle uptime, reliability, and cost efficiency.

This is a critical operations role requiring strong hands-on experience in managing commercial vehicle fleets in India, with a focus on preventive maintenance, breakdown reduction, and operational control.

The role involves end-to-end ownership of fleet maintenance, workshops, spares, and performance tracking, aligned with the responsibilities outlined in the role document .

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fleet Uptime & Availability Management

• Ensure 85% fleet availability through proactive maintenance planning
• Monitor daily/weekly fleet status and minimize downtime
• Coordinate with operations teams on vehicle availability and deployment

2. Maintenance & Repair Management

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules (PMS)
• Manage breakdown and emergency repairs with minimum downtime
• Maintain complete vehicle-wise maintenance history logs
• Ensure adherence to defined repair turnaround time (TAT)

3. Technical Inspections & Compliance

• Implement daily and monthly inspection checklists (tyres, brakes, fluids, etc.)
• Track defects and ensure timely closure
• Maintain accurate digital records for audit and compliance

4. Workshop & Vendor Management

• Manage internal workshops and external garages for timely repairs
• Monitor job progress, spares requirement, and delivery timelines
• Ensure repair quality and vehicle fitness before release

5. Ground-Level Fleet Supervision

• Work closely with drivers, mechanics, and unit teams
• Conduct regular yard inspections and audits
• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy before dispatch

6. Spare Parts & Inventory Management

• Ensure availability of critical spares and consumables
• Maintain inventory records and track consumption
• Optimize spare usage and minimize stock-outs or dead inventory

7. Cost Control, MIS & Analytics

• Prepare vehicle-wise maintenance cost and downtime reports
• Analyze trends: cost per km, repeat failures, downtime drivers
• Generate monthly MIS and provide actionable insights

8. Insurance & Claims Management

• Coordinate accident claims with insurers and surveyors
• Ensure timely documentation and claim closure

9. Asset Lifecycle Management

• Provide inputs for vehicle purchase, overhaul, and disposal decisions
• Evaluate vehicle performance based on cost, age, and reliability

10. Team Management

• Lead mechanics, electricians, and support staff
• Allocate work, monitor productivity, and enforce safety standards
• Train teams on SOPs and maintenance best practices

Must-Have Experience:

• Proven experience managing commercial vehicle fleets (LCV/HCV) in India
• Hands-on experience in logistics / transportation fleet operations
• Strong track record in: Improving fleet uptime, Reducing breakdowns, Implementing preventive maintenance systems.
• Experience in workshop operations and vendor management
• Ability to manage on-ground operations in a fast-paced environment
