Job Description of Head Teacher:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of Children’s Smart Centre.
• To teach and guide the children of the centre as needed.
• To supervise teachers & staff for smooth functioning of the centre.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate inclusive curriculum and activities.
• Monitor & develop the ongoing functioning of the inclusive program.
• To supervise the special education & ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment for children.
• Collaborate with our partners and organise community outreach programs.
• Monitor each child’s development & supervise the school administrator in keeping records regarding attendance, assessments, application & enrolments.
• To strengthen our relationship with parents.
• Participate in both online & onsite trainings provided by the organisation.
• To adhere & maintain the proper time and schedule of the centre.

About the Organisation

Childlife Preserve Shishur Sevay was founded in 2006, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, by Dr. Michelle Harrison, an American physician, author and leader in women’s health.

Shishur Sevay is a best practices model of a family-style, inclusive, non-institutional home for lost and abandoned girls, some having profound disabilities, all having been rejected for adoption. 19 years later, the organisation has spread its wings. Now we have opened Children’s Smart Centre (CSC) in our community, a free inclusive pre-school with activity-based learning for underprivileged children to prepare them for formal schooling. The girls raised at Shishur Sevay, including the ones with disabilities, are teachers there.
