We are looking for a hands-on technical Team Lead who will play a key role in designing, building, and operating cloud-native database platforms and services. This role does not involve people management but requires strong technical leadership, ownership and the ability to influence engineering outcomes across teams. The role of the Team Lead will operate as a senior individual contributor within the Cloud Storage Engineering team. This role is highly hands-on and responsible for building and operating database platforms and shared services used across the enterprise. You will work closely with application teams, architects, SREs, and security partners to deliver reliable, scalable and compliant database solutions in Azure and GCP. Is this role right for you? In this role you will: Lead through technical expertise and execution Take ownership of complex systems Influence architecture and standards without direct authority Work with other lead engineers and architects on breaking-down, scoping and estimating tasks. Work with application teams for successful onboarding onto the Platform Participate in planning and retrospective sessions, attending stand-ups, etc. Provide mentorship, peer review and code review Lead a product/service, and define functions or features for cloud platforms Be able to build and operate the highly available and scalable software and infrastructure Act as a technical leader for cloud database platforms and services across Azure and GCP. Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions. Own the architecture and implementation of infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Build and enhance platform capabilities using Java and NodeJS for automation, APIs, and service integration. Lead design discussions and provide technical direction for database onboarding and migrations. Partner with application teams to ensure successful adoption of database platforms. Ensure systems meet availability, performance, security, and compliance requirements. Drive best practices in cloud engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD. Perform code reviews, design reviews, and contribute to technical documentation. Manage on-call rotations and support production systems when required. Continuously identify opportunities to improve reliability, automation, and cost efficiency Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: 8–12+ years of hands-on technical experience in cloud or platform engineering roles. Strong hands-on experience with Azure and GCP (production workloads). Deep experience with databases, such as: Relational: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle Cloud-managed databases (Azure SQL, Azure SQL MI, Cloud SQL, etc.) Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code. Hands-on development experience with Java and NodeJS. Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, IAM, and monitoring. Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Nice to Have: Experience with Kubernetes and container-based platforms. Exposure to database migrations from on-prem to cloud. Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins etc.). Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Cloud Monitoring). Understanding of enterprise security and compliance requirements. Prior experience working in large-scale enterprise or regulated environments What's in it for you?
