The Science Advisor/Project manager is responsible for managing qualitative market research projects, with the ability to support quantitative research projects as well. This role will play a critical part in designing, managing and delivering high-quality research projects across the life sciences, biotech, imaging, clinical diagnostics, and pharmaceutical sectors. Candidates must have a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Comfort working in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment is essential.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a hands-on researcher who excels at qualitative research and is also able to contribute to quantitative studies. The candidate must be able to work closely with science professionals and industry stakeholders, translating complex scientific perspectives into clear, actionable insights. Responsibilities adjust to organization/department needs, but typically align to the following:
Project and Client Management
- Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, quality, and client expectations are met
- Serve as primary client contact: lead client calls, document business objectives, and translate client/customer needs into language scientists and laboratory professionals can understand and vice versa
- Proactively identify logistical risks and develop solutions to mitigate risks to project timelines and/or quality
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure scope of work feasibility and select most appropriate research methodology and techniques
- Coordinate with internal teams to align on priorities and resourcing
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism in all client and respondent interactions
Qualitative Research Design and Execution
- Synthesize existing data and identify knowledge gaps to inform primary qualitative research design
- Design high quality screener questionnaires, discussion guides, and analysis plans tailored to client objectives
- Coordinate logistics for qualitative research projects (recruitment, scheduling interviews, managing transcripts, etc.)
- Work with fielding team to manage research recruitment and ensure quality of respondents
- Moderate cognitive interviews, in-depth interviews, and focus groups across healthcare and life science audiences
- Analyze qualitative data, synthesize findings into actionable insights, and present key Ensure methodological rigor, respondent engagement, and high data/information quality throughout fieldwork
- Synthesize qualitative findings into clear, insight-driven narratives with strategic implications
Quantitative Research Support
- Step in to manage quantitative research projects as need to support team coverage and timelines
- Design and review survey instruments ensuring, clarity, scientific accuracy, and analytical rigor
- Interpret quantitative data outputs and integrate findings with qualitative insights, as necessary
Insight Development and Communication
- Translate qualitative and quantitative findings into actionable insights and recommendations
- Develop written deliverables including reports, slide decks, executive summaries, and client presentations
- Present findings clearly and confidently to internal stakeholders and external clients
- Deliver visually appealing research reports that tell the describe relevant insights as they relate to the research questions
Required Skills & Competencies

Education & Experience
- Knowledge of best practices in qualitative and quantitative research
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques
- Advanced degree in life sciences (biology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medicine, health science, etc.)
- At least 3 years of qualitative market research or social science research experience
- At least 2 years of project management experience with the ability to manage multiple high priority studies simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to executive audiences
- Ability to write conclusive reports to drive business decisions
- Experience with client management
- Proven ability to:
- Write effective discussion guides and surveys
- Conduct and moderate IDIs and focus groups
- Pull insights from both qualitative and quantitative data
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in life sciences (biology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medicine, health science, etc.)
- Previous experience in pharma or biotechnology industry (e.g., life science sales, product development, marketing, technical support)
