Position Details

• Role: Warehouse Order Picker/Parker, Part‑Time Seasonal
• Location: Odenton, MD
• Pay: $17.00 per hour plus a $1.50 premium pay
• Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Part time seasonal shift schedules are available during peak school‑year periods (Monday‑Friday). These roles are typically off during summer and winter school leave. Benefits include major holidays, a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise, and a 401(k) plan.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist in the production of book fairs by packing metal cases, boxes, and displays with books and non‑book products according to corporate processes and quality standards.
• Demonstrate proficiency in packing all components and sub‑components for all cases, boxes, and displays.
• Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, or quality standards.
• Ensure all outbound cases, boxes, and displays are clean, safe, and in good condition.
• Assist in processing returned book fairs by unpacking metal cases, boxes, and displays according to corporate procedures.
• Monitor inventory levels on applicable component product lines to ensure proper packing of book fairs.
• Learn and demonstrate basic scanner proficiency for item inquiries and replenishment requests.
• Assist in the picking and packing of customer reorders.
• Maintain a neat, clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
• Work independently and in partnership with coworkers on seasonal inventory production‑line resets.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all Fair Finishing and Assembly functions, including Quality Assurance scanning.
• Participate in Physical Inventory functions, including inventory counting and Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale events.
• Handle all merchandise carefully at all times.
• Use warehouse equipment and tools properly to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety. Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or injuries immediately.
• Apply proper lifting, packing, handling, climbing, and pushing/pulling techniques for heavy objects.
• Accurately and timely complete Labor Data Collection Cards along company standards.
• Operate motorized pallet jacks upon successful completion of the SBF power equipment training program.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality as required by the assigned work schedule.
• Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with coworkers and customers.
• Comply with the drug and alcohol‑free policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
• Basic scanner proficiency with minimal errors.
• Strong team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read English documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Physical Demands

• Lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Lift boxes weighing up to 30 lbs to a height of 70” occasionally.
• Push wheeled cases weighing over 300 lbs with an initial force of up to 50 lbs and a sustained force of up to 30 lbs.
• Stand, reach, squat, bend, and kneel as necessary.
• Tolerate work in a non‑air‑conditioned environment.
• Accurately follow detailed assembly instructions.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
