Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain low voltage systems including CCTV cameras, VoIP telephony, Ethernet networks, and fiber optic cabling.
- Perform fiber splicing and terminations with precision to ensure high-quality connectivity.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installations and repairs.
- Use hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other equipment to install and repair cabling (Cat5, Cat6), network hardware, and telecommunication equipment.
- Conduct field service visits to client sites for system setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and local electrical regulations during all installations.
- Document work performed through detailed reports, including system configurations, test results, and service logs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar low voltage/telecommunications role with knowledge of CCTV, networking, fiber splicing, and electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and network protocols.
- Familiarity with VoIP systems such as Avaya or similar telephony platforms.
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately; experience with electrical wiring standards (NEC) is a plus.
- Hands-on skills with hand tools, power tools, testing meters (Ohmmeter), and equipment repair techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel locally for field service calls.
- Physical ability to perform installation tasks that may involve climbing ladders or working in confined spaces; comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
