ABOUT THE SASKSPCA:
The SaskSPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals across the province. We collaborate with animal welfare organizations, human service agencies, and other partners to improve the lives of animals and their people.
THE POSITION:
As the Communications & Development Coordinator, you will help manage the SaskSPCA’s daily communications and fundraising activities. You will create clear, engaging messages for the public and support efforts to grow and maintain our fundraising and donor relationships.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, an organized self-starter, and a collaborative team member who is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing and maintaining the SaskSPCA’s social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement
- Writing and producing the organization’s quarterly newsletter and other e-blasts
- Overseeing and maintaining SaskSPCA websites (WordPress), including content updates, accuracy, and overall user experience
- Serving as a media spokesperson and supporting public relations efforts
- Hosting webinars and other virtual education sessions
- Developing and supporting grassroots fundraising initiatives
- Coordinating donor stewardship activities, including donor recognition and communications
- Assisting with fundraising campaigns and initiatives, including SaskSPCA lotteries
- Representing the SaskSPCA at community events and outreach opportunities
- Supporting the development and implementation of communications and fundraising strategies
- Collaborating with staff, partners, and stakeholders to advance organizational priorities
LOCATION AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is remote; however, the successful candidate must be based in Saskatchewan. Regular travel will be required, including periodic in-person work at the SaskSPCA office in Saskatoon and attendance at community events across the province. Evening and weekend work will be required, as needed.
A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required. Approved travel expenses will be reimbursed.
THE CANDIDATE:
This role is a good fit for people with post-secondary education or similar experience in communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising, or related areas.
- The successful candidate will also possess:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in public speaking
- Experience managing social media platforms and digital communications tools
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute projects and events
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience with donor relations, fundraising, or nonprofit work is considered an asset
- Proficiency with common office software and communications platforms

SALARY AND WORK SCHEDULE:
- The annual salary for this position begins at $52,000, with opportunities for advancement based on performance and experience.
- This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
