Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Dental Therapist will provide prevention services, diagnostic treatment planning, restorative/operative dental treatment, community and preventive dentistry services. The incumbent specializes in stimulating, coordinating, and delivering oral health promotion activities aimed at reducing disease and promoting oral health for people in the community. Incumbents must have an ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams. The incumbent will plan, develop, organize, implement and evaluate the delivery of an active preventive oral health education and promotion program within the oral health professional's scope of practice. This position provides supervision, program management, and direction to the Oral Health Program. The position is bound by the following legislation: * Dental Disciplines Act * Saskatchewan Dental Therapists Association Bylaws and Regulations

Experience
- 2 years' experience as a Dental Therapist
Education
- Dental Therapy diploma
- Graduate from a recognized Dental Therapy program
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of oral health principles & their relationship to health and disease
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Knowledge in best practice in oral health and other related health impacts
- Knowlede of health promotion, public relations projects and/or media
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of program planning process
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients & Stakeholders
- Knowledge of current infection control standards, practices and protocols
- Ability to work in isolated areas, as required
- Demonstrated knowledge of teaching abilities & group facilitation skills
- Ability to perceive and analyze problems and effect innovative solutions
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Highly developed organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a cross cultural setting
- Ability to apply advanced computer skills
- Knowledge of current scientific info/research/best practice in oral health
- Ability to travel on remote roads or fly in small aircraft to remote communities
- Ability to address helath-related issues or life skills, other than oral health
