Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

We’re looking for a Senior SRE to lead our Cloud Engineering SmartThings team in driving the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical systems processing terabytes of data daily. You’ll architect and implement cloud-native solutions, lead cross-functional initiatives with backend development teams, and define strategies to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Role and Responsibilities

• Architect and implement solutions for mission-critical systems
• Define platform strategy and technical roadmap for cloud infrastructure
• Drive organizational adoption of SRE/DevOps practices (e.g., error budgets, automation SLAs)
• Lead cross-functional initiatives (site reliability, cost optimization, platform evolution)
• Mentor mid-level engineers and establish team knowledge-sharing frameworks
• Develop self-healing systems through advanced automation and AI/ML integration
• Own platform resilience: Implement chaos engineering, disaster recovery, and SLO-driven design
• Reduce toil through platform abstractions and developer tooling
• Set observability standards (metrics, tracing, logging) across the organization
• Manage mission-critical on-call rotations with escalation authority

Skills and Qualifications

• 8+ years (senior) / 10+ years (staff) in infrastructure roles
• Multi-cloud mastery (AWS/Azure/GCP) with architecture certification (e.g., Solutions Architect Pro)
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes ecosystems (Karpenter, ArgoCD, service meshes)
• Proven track record in designing scalable IaC pipelines and GitOps workflows
• Advanced observability implementation (distributed tracing, anomaly detection)
• Experience with FinOps and cost-optimization frameworks
• Technical leadership: Drive platform decisions, vendor evaluations, and team upskilling
• Cross-functional influence: Partner with backend services teams on reliability and performance
• Incident management: Lead post-mortems and systemic improvements

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $113,900 to $147,400 and reflects base salary only. Actual pay will be determined based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, competencies, qualifications, relevant skills and experience.
