FAMILY / CHILD COUNSELLOR

Location: Onsite – Ambattur, Chennai.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Family/Child Counsellor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in supporting children and families through various challenges, including emotional, behavioral, and relational issues. This role involves providing counseling, developing therapeutic plans, and working collaboratively with families to promote healthy communication and relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and family assessments to identify emotional, behavioral, and relational issues.
  • Provide counseling and therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of clients.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions or workshops focused on parenting skills, communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with schools, social services, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for clients.
  • Educate families on coping strategies and techniques to enhance emotional well-being and strengthen relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and initiatives to promote mental health awareness.
  • Stay updated on best practices, research, and developments in family and child counseling.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Valid license or certification as a counselor, therapist, or social worker (e.g., LPC, LMFT, LCSW).
  • Proven experience in providing counseling to children and families.
  • Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with children, adolescents, and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and strategies.
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed and accurate documentation.

Preferred

  • Experience working with trauma, grief, or high-conflict family situations.
  • Familiarity with play therapy, art therapy, or other child-focused therapeutic modalities.
  • Bilingual proficiency in [specific languages, if applicable].
