Senior Cloud Engineer to deploy components of strategic solutions for cloud security using Terraform, Bash/Powershell and Python/Java - 39557

Location Address: Hybrid - Toronto or Scarborough (2 days on site- Can choose which location to go to, however Toronto is preferred.)

Contract Duration: ASAP - 6 months (Possibility of extension & conversion)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

• Business group: Cloud Security - deploying cloud native vulnerability detection tools used by the Bank for detection of configuration and runtime vulnerabilities in cloud workloads.
• Project: Resource will be playing a key role in deploying components of the strategic solution for Cloud Security by implementing Cloud Workload Protection and Cloud Native Application Protection platform tools across the bank.

Typical Day in Role:

• Solution Design & Integration: Design and implement integrations between vendor tool APIs, to implement platforms for CWPP and CNAP and ensuring integrations meet the stringent security requirements of the bank.
• Tool & Integration development: Develop integrations, automations using Infrastructure as Code, Shell scripting and other tools.
• Cloud Management: Be able to assess and implement best practices when configuring cloud SaaS solutions and integrations with APIs
• Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to identify and resolve issues, complete threat risk assessments, and improve existing processes.
• Security: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards to protect the integrity and confidentiality of our systems and data.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce latency, and optimize resource usage.
• Disaster Recovery: Design and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity and data integrity in case of system failures or other unforeseen events.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

1. 10+ years of enterprise IT experience

2. 5+ years’ experience as a Software or Cloud Engineer

3. Experience in designing and implementing backend automations using Infrastructure as Code, Shell Scripting or other scripting/programming languages.

c. Python/Java

4. 5+ years Agile and SDLC experience

5. Cloud solution deployment experience (GCP, Azure)

a. Docker containers

b. Kubernetes

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1. Active Directory / Entra ID integrations focusing on SSO.

2. Experience with cloud Security Tools (Wiz, MS Defender, Aqua)

3. Policy as Code development experience (Rego)

Education

Bachelors in technical field (computer science)

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Someone who can work independently with stakeholders to implement solution from design, constantly able to update design - Crucial: taking initiative, strong problem solver and is a strategic thinker and can identify solution; experience with using cloud native protection tools. The best candidates will have used the tools themselves and understand how they work, strong independent developer, with programming and automation expertise

Candidate Review & Selection

2-3 Rounds - MS Teams Video Interviews - all panels

1st - 30 minutes- Initial interview with hiring manager, and possibly team lead to assess skills against candidate’s CV

2nd - 45 minutes - panel of project team members (HM, technical resources) - probing on technical expertise and project experience

Potential - 3rd if needed to decide between candidates

Hiring manager OOO March 27-April 3rd.
