What is the opportunity?
As the Senior Director, Product and Integrated Channels Strategy, you will be responsible for the growth and profitability of RBC Bank’s cross-border business, including the evolution of the cross-border product shelf and the development of an integrated digital and assisted channel sales strategy. This role is pivotal in aligning U.S. and Canadian platforms, driving strategic alignment and embedding the cross-border value proposition into Personal Banking solutions to drive new client acquisition and deliver a seamless client experience. As a core member of RBC Bank’s Operating Committee and Senior Management team, you will oversee the cross-border P&L, set strategic vision, and nurture strategic partnerships across LOBs, Products, Regional Banking, Advice Centre and Digital Distribution Strategy and Shared Services.
What will you do?
Strategy
- Set the vision for RBC Bank’s cross-border product suite (Everyday Banking, Business Banking, REF), aligning client needs with financial and growth objectives.
- Develop and deliver a seamless end-to-end client experience, proactively addressing irritants and optimizing product/channel journeys.
- Oversee development and execution of RBC Bank’s product and channel strategies in alignment with key Personal Banking products/programs (ie. Vantage, Avion, FX, Payments/Money Movement, Advice Centre, Digital) and proactively evaluates capabilities and best practices for adoption.
- Serve as the primary contact with National Office Product, Sales Enablement, Advice Centre and Digital partners to ensure alignment, create growth opportunities and drive continuous optimization and improvement.
- Primary driver of the financial plan and business forecasts for acquisition, retention, revenue and engagement goals.
Execution Oversight
- Lead the development and execution of the product and channels roadmap, ensuring prioritization is based upon business and client benefits and interdependencies across the suite of products and channels.
- Drive alignment and standardization of initiative business cases leveraging marginal profitability, cost-to-acquire, cost-to-originate and cost-to-service models across RBC Bank and in coordination with Personal Banking.
- Manage the P&L for multiple high-value products, overseeing product pricing and ensuring business plan expectations are tracked and achieved.
- Manage the P&L for integrated channels, including Regional Banking, Career Sales, Advice Centre and Digital. Establish routines with Personal Banking channel owners to align on and allocate productivity and efficiency goals to achieve channel plans through effective practice management.
- Identify and manage existing and emerging Product and Channel Risks that stem from business activities and coordinates first line of defense processes and routines to ensure heightened standards are maintained across the product suite and channel execution.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and growth opportunities within the Canadian-American cross border niche.
Collaboration & Alignment
- Work collaboratively within a complex, matrixed environment to deliver industry leading product offerings and a value proposition that supports and drives profitability.
- Represent RBC Bank with Canadian Leadership and National Office partners to build awareness/engagement in RBC Bank strategies and initiatives, support prioritization and alignment and develop points of integration to drive accelerated growth.
- Collaborate to ensure Voice of Client is well understood and reflected in products and channel experiences.
- Lead a high performing team to ensure optimal performance of Banking products and channels, creating a culture of continuous improvement and challenge of the status quo.
- Ensure continuous and impactful ‘marketable news’ is delivered across Canadian sales communication channels such as CB News, RBCnet, Connect, etc.
- Represent RBC Bank at national sales conferences, events, meetings, etc. and establishes routines for regular participation in appropriate SLT’s, steering committees, etc.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 10–15 years in client experience strategy, personal banking products, and cross-border financial services.
- Proven expertise in product pricing, P&L management, and strategy development for digital/assisted channels.
- Deep understanding of client value drivers and internal revenue and cost drivers to optimize financial results
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed environment, influencing stakeholders across LOBs, regions, and senior leadership.
- Exceptional strategic orientation, thought leadership, and execution excellence.
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
Nice-to-have:
- MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
