Construction Supervisor – Underpinning & Basement Lowering
Position Overview
RockBottom Underpinning is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee residential underpinning and basement lowering projects.
This role is responsible for managing job sites from start to finish, leading crews, coordinating work sequencing, and ensuring all underpinning operations are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in excavation, concrete, and structural work, and is comfortable working in residential environments with tight access and active homeowners.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Supervision & Execution
- Oversee all day-to-day operations on underpinning job sites
- Direct crews in excavation, pinning, forming, and concrete work
- Ensure proper sequencing of underpinning stages (section-by-section work)
- Maintain productivity and workflow on site
- Ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications
Crew Management
- Lead, train, and supervise labourers and skilled workers
- Assign daily tasks and responsibilities
- Monitor crew performance and enforce accountability
- Maintain a professional and respectful work environment
Quality Control
- Ensure all work meets company standards and structural requirements
- Verify accuracy of measurements, forming, and concrete placement
- Identify and correct issues before they become problems
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all health and safety protocols
- Maintain safe working conditions in confined basement environments
- Ensure proper PPE use and hazard awareness
- Coordinate inspections where required
Coordination & Communication
- Communicate with the Operations Manager and ownership on project progress
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and suppliers as needed
- Provide updates on timelines, issues, and job status
- Act as the on-site point of contact when required
Materials & Equipment
- Ensure proper use and care of tools and equipment
- Coordinate material deliveries and usage
- Maintain organized and clean job sites
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in construction (foundation, concrete, or excavation preferred)
- Experience with underpinning or structural foundation work strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site operations
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and plans
- Leadership experience managing crews
- Strong problem-solving skills
Language Requirements
- Fluent in English (required)
- Spanish and/or Portuguese (strongly preferred)
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse crews and team members is essential for this role.

Work Schedule
- Monday to Saturday
- Full-time hours (8+ hours per day depending on project needs)
Compensation
- Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000, based on experience
