Payroll Accounting AnalystLocation: Greater Toronto Area (On-site/Hybrid)Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 CADIndustry: HospitalityOverviewOur client, a leading organization within the hospitality industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Accounting Analyst to support payroll operations across multiple regions.This role is positioned at the intersection of payroll and accounting, with a strong emphasis on financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy, rather than pure payroll processing. The successful candidate will work closely with payroll vendors, finance teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.What You’ll Be DoingPayroll Accounting & Financial ReportingSupport the accurate recording of payroll transactions within the general ledger across multiple regionsPrepare journal entries related to payroll, taxes, and employee benefitsPerform monthly reconciliations between payroll reports and accounting recordsAssist with calculating and booking accruals related to compensation, bonuses, and benefit programsSupport audit requests by preparing payroll-related schedules and documentationPayroll Operations SupportAssist in processing payroll across multiple regions in partnership with external providersReview and validate payroll data from HRIS and third-party systems to ensure accuracyMonitor payroll funding timelines and flag discrepancies to leadershipTrack payroll submission deadlines and ensure timely completion of post-payroll activitiesData Analysis & ControlsAnalyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, variances, and trendsPerform quality checks on payroll inputs and outputs to maintain data integritySupport compliance with internal controls and regional regulatory requirementsProcess ImprovementMaintain documentation of payroll accounting procedures and internal controlsIdentify opportunities to enhance efficiency in payroll accounting workflows and reportingAssist with ERP or payroll system enhancements and implementationsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with Finance, HR, and regional teams to ensure alignment between payroll and accountingRespond to payroll-related inquiries with a focus on financial accuracy and reporting claritySupport communication and tracking of incentive payments and one-time adjustments
