Role Description
Roadside Development is seeking a business minded, full-time, on-site In House Counsel. This role will be responsible for providing legal support on a wide range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, joint ventures and financings especially in retail and mixed-use environments. This role will manage and collaborate with various outside counsel, other consultants and critical stakeholders on complex real estate transactions. This includes assisting in drafting, negotiating and reviewing a variety of contracts including, without limitation, purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, joint venture agreements, development agreements, financing documents and other service contracts; providing legal guidance on corporate matters and project governance; conducting due diligence; managing closing logistics; ensuring corporate and contractual compliance; and maintaining and updating internal templates, legal processes, and materials.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in contract drafting, review, and negotiations.
- Positive, collaborative, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
- The ideal candidate will be business minded and have practiced commercial real estate law for 4+ years either in house or at a law firm.
- The ability to be pro-active and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess legal risks.
- Exceptional communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active DC bar membership.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to be pro-active and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
