Job Responsibilities
- Research, develop, and present news stories for television broadcast, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
- Conduct on‑site reporting, live interviews, and field coverage of events, breaking news, and special features.
- Collaborate with editors, producers, camera crews, and technical staff to craft compelling visual narratives.
- Write clear, concise scripts and voice‑overs that adhere to BBC editorial standards and style guidelines.
- Maintain a strong network of sources and contacts across political, social, cultural, and economic sectors in Odisha.
- Stay updated on regional, national, and international developments to identify story opportunities.
- Adhere to BBC’s code of conduct, ensuring impartiality, fairness, and ethical reporting.
- Assist in post‑production tasks such as reviewing footage, providing input on edits, and ensuring final packages meet broadcast deadlines.
Essential Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field.
- Strong command of English (spoken and written) and fluency in Odia.
- Excellent verbal communication and on‑camera presentation skills.
- Proficiency with newsroom software, teleprompters, and basic video editing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and handle high‑pressure situations.
Desired Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in television news reporting or broadcast journalism.
- Hands‑on experience covering political, social, or cultural beats in Odisha or comparable regions.
- Proven track record of producing original, high‑impact news stories that have aired on television.
- Experience in live reporting, anchoring, and conducting interviews with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with digital news platforms and social media storytelling is an advantage.
