Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will design and build reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) modules, automate cloud provisioning workflows, and integrate ServiceNow with CI/CD pipelines to enable self-service infrastructure deployment. This role focuses on cloud governance, policy-as-code, operational automation, and standardized platform engineering practices across enterprise GCP environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop reusable Terraform modules for GCP services including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Memorystore, GCS, BigQuery, VPC, Load Balancers, API Gateway, and Pub/Sub.
• Build standardized project and environment templates for Java, Node.js, Python, React, and other common application stacks.
• Create property-driven infrastructure templates that allow environment provisioning via configuration rather than custom Terraform code.
• Integrate ServiceNow approval workflows with Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins for automated Terraform plan/apply execution.
• Implement approval gates, change records, deployment notifications, and automatic ticket updates.
• Develop runbook automation using Python, Shell scripting, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Run.
• Automate common operational tasks such as IAM role assignments, firewall changes, project provisioning, and network setup.
• Implement policy-as-code frameworks using OPA/Rego and GCP Organization Policies.
• Ensure newly provisioned resources are automatically enrolled in monitoring, logging, tagging, governance, and security scanning.
• Manage Terraform remote state using GCS backend with workspace and environment isolation.
• Establish CI/CD standards including linting, validation, testing, and approval workflows.
• Prepare technical documentation, onboarding guides, and self-service instructions.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with GCP and platform engineering.
• Expert-level Terraform experience including reusable modules, workspaces, remote state, module versioning, and state management.
• In-depth knowledge of GCP services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, GCS, VPC, IAM, DNS, and Load Balancers.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow using REST APIs, Flow Designer, Business Rules, Scripted REST APIs, or MID Server.
• Strong CI/CD experience with Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting.
• Experience with OPA/Rego or GCP Org Policy for governance and compliance.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Strong networking knowledge including Cloud NAT, Private Service Connect, firewall rules, and Cloud DNS.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building enterprise self-service infrastructure platforms.
• Knowledge of security scanning and compliance automation.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging automation.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
