Position: Senior Data Scientist

Location: 100% Remote - Jackson, MS

Duration: 6 Months plus

Job Summary (Senior Data Scientist)

• Lead and oversee the development, implementation, and testing of statistical models and machine learning (including NLP) to improve child welfare intake processes.
• Integrate and refine NLP solutions as part of a proof-of-concept project.
• - Evaluate algorithmic trade-offs and provide expert guidance to ensure project objectives are met.
• - Work collaboratively with State stakeholders and technical teams to ensure solution quality, statistical validity, transparency, and proper documentation.
• Apply extensive data engineering expertise to process large-scale datasets efficiently (700+ Million records in under 30 minutes).
• Utilize advanced knowledge of statistical algorithms, machine learning, and adaptive systems to design and build models from the ground up.
• Select, clean, and tune data attributes to predict child welfare outcomes and support decision-making.
• Make technical decisions regarding algorithmic approaches, balancing errors, computational time, scalability, and desired outcomes.
• Develop and implement non-rule-based, stochastic, decision-making systems that model social and human processes computationally for improved outcomes.
• Demonstrate experience in US Federal Government data science projects requiring security clearance and expertise in geospatial and social network analysis.
