We are looking for a Front Office Application Support Analyst to work with one of our clients, an Investment Bank based in Montreal.

Role Overview :

The team is responsible for publishing Custom Indices and supporting related workflows. The entity operates as both a Calculation Agent and a Publication Agent for custom index activities. As a Calculation Agent, the entity ensures the robustness of calculations and the existence of appropriate internal controls. As a Publication Agent, it guarantees that publications adhere to rulebook guidelines.

The team has daily interaction with front-office functions to ensure seamless operations. The team is involved in the publication of cross-asset indices, spanning a wide range of products including options-based, equity, and commodity indices.

The team is responsible for calculating and publishing 16,000 instruments (ETR, VWAP, Surface, etc.) required for the publication of 6,000 custom indices on a daily basis. The main complexity of this role lies in analyzing the reasons behind the failure to publish certain indices or underlying instruments.

Key responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to :

  • Investigating Issues: Investigate the root cause of publication issues and provide solutions or escalate as necessary, ensuring follow-up until resolution. Investigations will span multiple platforms and involve transversal collaboration, requiring the use of tools such as SQL, Excel, Splunk, Camunda, Jira, Dynatrace, Ubix, and Bloomberg.
  • Provide user support throughout the entire lifecycle of an index, ensuring proper configurations across the necessary systems for index calculation or publication.
  • Oversee workflow systems, ensuring that all workflows run on time daily, manage workflow incidents, and collaborate with development teams to improve workflow monitoring.
  • Being able to summarize issue in a clear, concise manner and communicate across all the bank structural level to inform stakeholders and guide concerned team toward a resolution path.
  • Work closely with market data provider such as Bloomberg and Reuters

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Strong IT background with interest in financial markets and want to work closely with the business side
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot technical issues related to servers, connectivity, and scripts
  • Experience and knowledge in working in a transversal role with all the bank structural level (FRONT, MIDDLE and BACK OFFICE)
  • Experience in high-stakes role and stressful environment
  • Comfortable with SQL requests, Python scripting, analyzing applications logs
  • Ability to learn and understand complex processes and application entanglement
  • Ability to quickly identify root cause of complex problems, whether they are external, technical, or internal.
  • Adaptability to evolving systems, methods, and technologies, with a commitment to continuous improvement in workflow efficiency.
  • Proven project management skills to deliver small & medium scale projects
  • Willingness to learn more about financial products and market dynamics to bridge the gap between IT and business functions.
  • Comfortable working in high-pressure situations, especially during critical times for index calculation and publication.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills are needed to quickly and accurately assess trouble areas in a wide variety of infrastructure and application environments
