Job Description

A career in our Chief Data and Analytics Office (“CDAO”) within PwC’s Business Enablement team will provide you with the opportunity to leverage innovative solutions to enable data-driven decision making for our organization. We are dedicated to helping our leaders transform data into actionable insights through reporting, dashboards, and other data products. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of dashboards and reporting tools. You will work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Sales & Marketing, Human Capital, and other parts of the business to support our developers and project team members to ensure that our dashboards meet the strategic needs of our leadership and drive informed decision-making.

The Opportunity

As a Data Platform Engineer at the Manager level, unlock your potential and embrace the chance to drive meaningful outcomes that’ll elevate your career. Your role will include, but isn’t limited to:

  • Conduct and support meetings with the business alongside the portfolio lead to understand business problems, gather requirements, collect feedback, and document requests for the product backlog
  • Develop documentation such as requirements documents and user stories to assist the portfolio lead in project prioritization
  • Translate business problems into solutions by working with the development team and technical analyst, providing clarifications as needed
  • Review outputs from the development team, support QA testing and UAT, and derive key insights for stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to gather requirements, collect feedback, and align priorities with the portfolio lead
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business challenges and priorities in depth
  • Help transform business context into thoughtfully designed mock-ups and clear technical requirements with stakeholders and portfolio lead
  • Document business requirements for operational reporting, create detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and specifications for development and testing
  • Perform initial data analysis to assess project feasibility and provide feedback to developers
  • Partner with the portfolio lead to manage the use case backlog and ensure timely, high-quality delivery

What You’ll Bring

Your skills, knowledge, and experiences are what set you apart. Here’s what we look for:

  • Experience working with business stakeholders and/or providing client services
  • Previous experience as a Business Analyst or similar role in a data-centric environment is a plus
  • Certification or Degree in Business or related field
  • Strong understanding of data product development, data visualization, data platforms (e.g., Databricks), and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Experience communicating with senior stakeholders and distilling complex analytics or topics into user-friendly insights
  • Strong ability to translate technical requirements into actionable business insights and vice versa
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to translate business problems into data needs and actionable insights
  • Proficient in writing clear and concise user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment, including associated software and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Asana)
  • Knowledge of SQL, data querying, basic data modeling concepts, and broader data wrangling skills
  • This role does not require professional engineering licensure and is not classified as a formal engineering position under provincial regulatory definitions. While individuals with a P.Eng designation are welcome to apply, the responsibilities of this role do not involve the practice of professional engineering as defined by applicable legislation

The salary range for this position is $98,000 - $148,000. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. Given our national recruiting approach, ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may have opportunities to participate in variable incentive pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements.
