Job Description
We’re looking for a Research Associate I (Lab Operations) who is equal parts operational powerhouse and scientific problem-solver. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our laboratory ecosystem where you will ensure experiments run smoothly, data is captured accurately, and our research engine stays organized, efficient, and future-ready. What You’ll Do
Keep the Lab Running Smoothly
- Own day-to-day lab operations and ensure workflows run efficiently.
- Manage inventory, track consumables, and coordinate purchasing of reagents and supplies.
- Maintain equipment, schedule servicing, and troubleshoot basic issues.
- Implement systems that elevate lab organization, documentation, and operational efficiency.
- Uphold safety standards and internal compliance practices.
Support Cutting-Edge Science
- Assist scientists with experiments, including sample prep, assay execution, and data collection.
- Perform routine techniques such as cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology assays, or biochemical assays (as project needs require).
- Prepare buffers, reagents, and essential experimental materials.
- Maintain exceptional documentation in our electronic lab notebook (ELN) system
Keep Data Flowing
- Support data entry, curation, and basic analysis.
- Compile experimental data and help prepare internal reports.
- Champion strong record-keeping practices to ensure data integrity and reproducibility.
Make the Team Better Every Day
- Identify opportunities to streamline lab workflows.
- Collaborate with scientists and operations team members to improve systems and processes.
- Bring a proactive mindset to an evolving, high-growth research environment.
Requirements
- MSc with 2 years OR BSc with 5 years’ experience in a biotech or academic research environment. (Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related fields.)
- Experience supporting lab operations or experimental workflows.
- Strong organizational skills and a clear love for structure, systems, and detail.
- Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) or excitement to learn.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
