Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Remote (U.S.) | Full‑Time

Compensation range: $153-198k, DOE and location

A growing technology organization is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the end‑to‑end development of production‑grade ML systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building reliable, scalable machine learning infrastructure and translating complex product needs into measurable, high‑impact solutions.

You’ll work closely with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to bring models from research to production—owning everything from feature pipelines to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Own the full ML lifecycle: feature engineering, training workflows, deployment, inference, monitoring, and retraining
• Build and maintain scalable data and feature pipelines, including patterns that support consistent online/offline features
• Develop and optimize models across regression, classification, ranking, and recommendation use cases
• Partner across engineering and data science to develop commercial models
• Design systems that support rapid experimentation and safe rollout of new models
• Document architecture, define best practices, and mentor teammates through reviews and design discussions

What You Bring

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and clean coding practices
• Experience building and operating production ML systems, not just training models
• Understanding of the full ML lifecycle, from feature generation to deployment and monitoring
• Experience designing scalable data pipelines and feature workflows
• Familiarity with feature stores or similar patterns supporting both training and inference
• Ability to design for reliability, scalability, latency, and cost efficiency
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Proficiency with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit‑learn
• Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with cross‑functional teams
• Ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces and turn product needs into ML solutions

Experience Level

• 5+ years in ML engineering, software engineering, data engineering, or related fields
• Fluency in Python and SQL
• Proven experience designing and operating large‑scale data pipelines
• Hands‑on experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production
• Familiarity with orchestration or data modeling tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt)
• Experience with ranking, recommendation, or decisioning systems is a plus

Work Environment & Compensation

• Remote‑friendly within the United States
• Occasional in‑person collaboration depending on team needs
• Competitive salary range: $153,000 – $198,000, depending on experience
