Job Description
Overview
The Accounting Manager would help assist the Controller in overseeing the accounting and office duties for our group of companies. This includes Prairie Crane, Hope West Holdings, Alpine Transport & Rigging, and NCCHD.
Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM with 1 hour lunch
Responsibilities to Help Oversee:
All Accounting Responsibilities for All Companies including:
o Bank Reconciling, Company Remittances, Margin Reports, Year Ends, Dealing with Scotiabank/BDC/Etc.
o Overseeing and assisting accounting operations of NCCHD
o Oversee the operations of the accounting department
o Maintain the chart of accounts
o Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
o Issue timely and complete financial statements
o Coordinate the preparation of the annual year end files for external accountants
o Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
o Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
o Comply with Provincial and Federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
o Complete any other reports or request from Controller, Operations Manager, General Manager, and President
Accounts Payable and Receivable
o Help oversee that accounts payable are coded correctly
o Oversee entering and reconciliation of corporate visas and American express
o Work with the general manager to ensure payables are paid in a timely manner
o Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
o Review AR invoices prior to submitting to clients, and ensure they have been received
o Follow up on payments from clients as required
Payroll
o Ensure payroll is correctly coded to Crane’s and paid in a timely manner
o Ensure timesheets are calculated correctly and received in a timely manner from the administrative assistants
o Complete monthly Union Dues submissions
o Complete yearly WCB reports and payments
o All Benefits Administration
o All pension administration
o Apprenticeships – Submitting hours, etc.
NCCHD
o Assist with day-to-day operations as needed
o Direct staff on inventory monitoring and reconciling
o Monitor Wells Fargo/Northpoint and reporting for trailer sales
o Monitor accounting/filing for NCCHD and assist when needed
Office Responsibilities:
- Filing
- Insurance – Assisting with insurance responsibilities (Euler, Hoffmann Kool, Butler Byers)
- Oversee completing credit applications
- Overseeing and assisting other office personnel as needed
- Attend sales meetings as needed
- Ensuring receptionist and administrators are fulfilling their tasks as needed
- Completing cheque deposits (cheque scanner) and bank deposits when needed
- Dealing with customers as needed
- Assist with planning staff events (i.e. Christmas, fundraisers, etc.)
- Bring positive morale to office and new ideas
- Office upkeep
Skills
- Past accounts receivable and payable experience
- Proficiency in accounting software. Sage Intaact and QuickBooks ideal (primarily Sage)
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid understanding of payroll processes and financial services
- Good communication skills for collaboration with team members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams)
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Degree in accounting or finance would be preferred
Additional Information:
Health and Dental benefits (employer pays 50%) after 3 months probation
Pension (employer matches 2%, with increases after 3 & 5 years)

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
