Job Description
About the Company
Powerus is building a next-generation American autonomous systems platform designed to move, protect, and sustain critical assets in high-consequence environments. The company combines advanced autonomy, manufacturing capability, operational expertise, and strategic acquisitions to support defense, national security, critical infrastructure, and commercial operations globally.
Mission
Our mission is to deliver resilient autonomous technologies that strengthen national security, improve operational safety, and expand the capabilities of organizations operating in complex environments.
Why Join Powerus
Powerus is entering a significant period of operational growth, corporate development, and organizational scaling. As the company expands across multiple entities, manufacturing activities, and federal engagements, disciplined accounting, accurate financial records, and scalable transaction processing are becoming increasingly important. This is an opportunity to own meaningful day-to-day accounting work and help build the financial backbone of a fast-moving company.
About the Role
Powerus is seeking an Operational Accountant to run the day-to-day accounting that keeps a growing, multi-entity organization moving. This is a fully remote, U.S.-based role centered on hands-on transaction processing in NetSuite and maintaining accurate, timely financial records as the company scales. Reporting to the Controller, this role works closely with a small finance team to process general ledger activity, support the monthly close, and help establish scalable accounting workflows. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable operating in NetSuite day to day within a high-growth environment.
Responsibilities
- Process day-to-day accounting transactions in NetSuite — accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger activity
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including accruals and supporting schedules
- Maintain accurate financial records across multiple U.S. entities, including intercompany transactions
- Prepare account reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies
- Apply U.S. GAAP and accrual-basis accounting to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time
- Ensure proper transaction coding and adherence to accounting policies and internal controls
- Support audit requests, reporting, and ad hoc analysis for the finance team
- Help improve accounting workflows, processes, and day-to-day use of NetSuite
Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on, day-to-day NetSuite experience (required)
- 2–4+ years of accounting experience processing day-to-day transactions and supporting the close
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Active CPA (required)
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accrual-basis month-end close
- Experience within multi-entity organizations, including intercompany activity (preferred)
- Experience supporting organizations with federal contracts, including familiarity with government-contract accounting such as DCAA requirements and indirect rates (preferred)
- Proficiency with advanced Excel; familiarity with AP/expense automation tools (e.g., Bill.com, Ramp, Concur) and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto) (preferred)
- Exposure to inventory or cost accounting in a manufacturing environment (a plus)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving, remote environment
